ROYAL PALACE & ROYAL MUSEUMS SPECIAL TOUR: INSIDE THE HOUSE OF SAVOY

For centuries, the history of Turin was inseparable from that of the House of Savoy. This 4-hour private guided tour of the Royal Palace and Royal Museums of Turin, led by me, Maria Chiara Ambrosio, an art historian, offers the opportunity to explore the history of the Savoy dynasty through the places, artworks and collections that shaped its identity and its relationship with the city.

We will visit the Royal Palace, the Royal Armoury, the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, the Savoy art collections in the Galleria Sabauda, selected highlights of the Archaeological Museum, the Royal Library and the Cathedral of Turin.

During our four hours together, we will follow the history and development of the House of Savoy and of Turin itself, meet some of the key figures of the dynasty and explore how architecture, painting, art collecting and ceremonial spaces were used as instruments of power and political representation.

The Royal Armoury will introduce us to the military culture of a dynasty whose history was deeply connected with warfare, diplomacy and territorial expansion, while the Archaeological Museum will take us further back in time to discover the earliest chapters in the history of Turin.

A coffee break is included, giving us the opportunity to explore certain topics in greater depth and continue our conversation comfortably over a cup of coffee.

This in-depth Royal Museums tour is conceived especially for history and art lovers who wish to return home with a deeper understanding of the House of Savoy, its art and history, and its centuries-long relationship with the city of Turin.
